The Embassy of Nepal in Cairo organized a Tourism Promotion Program as per its planned activities under Economic Diplomacy in the center of Cairo at Sofitel Hotel showcasing Nepal’s tourism activities. On the same occasion, the Embassy honored Mr. Omar Samra, the first Egyptian national to climb the Mount Everest in Nepal. He was honored as “Visit Nepal 2020 Goodwill Ambassador of Nepal” believing that it would help further promote tourism and strengthen people to people contacts between Nepal and the Arab Republic of Egypt from now and throughout the year 2020. Mr. Samra is the first Egyptian to complete the seven summits challenge by 31 May 2013, climbing the highest mountains of all seven continents.
The Ambassador of Nepal to the Arab Republic of Egypt H.E. Mr. Jhabindra Prasad Aryal addressing the audience highlighted the popular destinations of Nepal for visitors focusing on natural bounties- the spectacular Himalayas, rich wildlife reserves, unique biodiversity, UNESCO recognized cultural heritages and almost all types of climatic conditions. He further added that the coming year which is designated as “Visit Nepal Year 2020” will be witnessing more focused tourism programs in Nepal and around the world. He also highlighted the core features of Nepal’s attractive tourism as nature, culture and adventure. The Ambassador congratulated Mr. Samra for his amazing adventures and all success in mountaineering feat and thanked for his participation as special guest of the program.
The Ambassador also emphasized that how Nepal offers conducive environment for foreign investors to make investment in the feasible sectors like tourism industries, hydro-power generation, infrastructure development, agriculture and others. The Egyptian audience comprised of the people from the tourism sectors, trade and investment, media, Egyptian friends of Nepal, among others, were present in the program and applauded the Embassy organized promotional event.
Mr. Samra shared his experience of scaling the Mount Everest and its adventures and thanked for the honor he received from the Embassy. He admired the friendly and hospitable people and natural beauty of Nepal and its prospects on tourism field. He encouraged the audience to visit Nepal to explore and experience its natural beauty and cultural heritages. The Embassy has been organizing various tourism promotion activities for encouraging visitors to visit Nepal under the theme of Visit Nepal 2020 in different cities of Egypt.
Audio-visual sights and sounds of Nepal were also screened during the program to show the participants some interesting glimpses of Nepal’s tourism activities.
The Second Secretary of the Embassy Mr. Sujan Bidari coordinated to organize the Nepal promotion programme and delivered a welcome remark.
